1897-1966

This series consists of various standardized forms that evolved overtime. The forms include oaths from the master and owner(s). The oaths affirm that they are United States citizens and pledge that the license granted will not be used for any other vessel, for any other employment other than the one stated, or in any trade or business defrauding the revenue of the United States. The owners' oath may list all owners of the vessel, attest that they are U.S. citizens, and fractional share of vessel ownership. The forms also include such information as: type of enrollment (permanent or temporary); enrollment number; master and owner(s) name, city of residence, and signature; vessel name and official number; vessel's home port; rig type, and tonnage; city and year of vessel construction; previous license number; city and date of previous license issued; and the reason the license was surrendered. This series include oaths of Errol Flynn, Dana Andrews, Sterling Hayden, Lou Costello, Jack L. Warner, Bing Crosby, John Wayne, and Ona Chaplin.
